Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has tipped Manchester United for success under Erik ten Hag ahead of their UEFA Europa League clash on Thursday, Afrosport reports.
Ten Hag has come under scrutiny for the Red Devils’ form this season including the Europa League where they failed to get victories against FC Twente and FC Porto from leading positions.
Mourinho however believes that United are already a work in progress stating: “I studied them the maximum I could. We watched everything in the Premier League, [and previous Europa League games against] Twente and Porto – there is work there.
“They will succeed sooner or later. Hopefully sooner and before one day I go back to the Premier League and they become my opponents. At this moment they are just my opponents for one match.”
Mourinho was in charge of the Red Devils between 2016 and 2018, helping them to the Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League in his first season before leading them to a second place finish the season after.
