Fiorentina forward Moise Kean was rushed to a hospital after collapsing on the pitch following a head injury he sustained during their 1-0 defeat at Verona on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
Kean got hit in the face by Pawel Dawidowicz’s knee while fighting for the ball in the 58th minute at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium.
The 24-year-old continued playing after receiving treatment, but he soon lost his balance, falling on the pitch as players on both teams called out for the team medics before the match was halted.
The former Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain forward, who was seen wearing a neck brace, was eventually stretchered off before being rushed to the hospital.
“Fiorentina announces that Moise Kean, during the match against Verona, suffered a head trauma. [He] is in hospital for tests,” the club statement read.
Kean has been in fine form for La Viola this season with 15 goals and two assists in 24 league games, placing him in second place in the race for the Serie A Golden Boot.
Fiorentina were, however, undone by a goal from Verona midfielder Antoine Bernede, who scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

This marks the second time a Fiorentina player will be collapsing on the pitch after Italian midfielder Edoard Bove suffered a cardiac arrest against Inter Milan in December.
Bove underwent successful surgery, and a removable defibrillator was fitted to prevent fatal cardiac arrest.
