Mo Salah: Egyptian makes Premier League history in Liverpool’s win over Tottenham

Onana: Cameroon goalkeeper makes difficult admission after Man United draw

Mohamed Salah achieved something no other player had done in Premier League history, as he became the first-ever player to score and assist 10+ goals in three consecutive seasons in the English top-flight.

The Egyptian forward scored and assisted in a six-goal thriller on Sunday as Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 at Anfield to end their two-game winless run.

The 31-year-old also became just the second player in Premier League history to provide 10+ goals and assists in five different seasons, after only Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney.

Salah broke the deadlock for the Reds in the 16th minute with a close-range header at the back post to score his 12th career goal against Tottenham. The former Chelsea and Roma forward also tied Harry Kane for the most goals (9) scored in a Liverpool vs. Tottenham match in the Premier League.

Scotland international Andy Robertson scored his second league goal in as many games as he reacted quickest to tap the ball home from close range after Guglielmo Vicario’s save from Salah was directed into his path.

It soon became three as Dutch forward of Togolese descent Cody Gakpo fired in a thumping header for his seventh goal in the league this season off a well-timed cross from Harvey Elliot.

Elliot then got on the score sheet with the goal of the game, finding the top corner from outside the box after being teed up by Salah just before the hour mark to make it four for the home team.

The visitors pulled one back via Brazilian forward Richarlison, who tapped home from close range. Son Heung-Min got Spurs’ second of the game to make for a nervy ending, but Jurgen Klopp’s had done most of the work already in the match.

Liverpool, who look to be out of the title race, got their 23rd win of the season and increased their points tally to 78 points with two games until the end of the 2023–24 league campaign.
