Mayweather to fight Aaron Chalmers in February

Legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather is set to return to the boxing ring for an exhibition fight against Aaron Chalmers at the O2 Arena on February 25.

The 45-year-old was initially expected to face Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison, but Harrison suffered a knee injury and could not go on with the bout.

Although retired, Mayweather is not a stranger to exhibition matches, as he has five to his name up to now.

He fought kickboxer and MMA fighter Tenshin Nasukawa, boxer Don Moore, YouTuber Logan Paul, MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura and, most recently in November, 2022, Youtuber Deji Olatunji.

“I was originally supposed to face a different opponent, but injuries happen and I’m glad that Aaron Chalmers could step up so that we could give the fans what they want,” Mayweather told Skysports

“The fans in the UK have always been great to me and supported me throughout my career, so an event like this has been a long time coming. I’m excited to add more history to the O2 Arena in London.”

Chalmers, a reality show star and a retired Mixed martial arts fighter with a professional record of 5 wins and 2 losses in 7 fights across his seven-year MMA career, has only one bout under his name as a boxer.

He defeated Spanish professional boxer Alexander Zeledon last June.

The 35-year-old expressed his eagerness to go toe-to-toe with “one of the greatest fighters ever.”

“I’ve been training with Adam Booth in the boxing gym and I’m eager to make a name for myself in the boxing world,” Chalmers revealed.

“I jumped on this opportunity immediately. It’s an honour to share the ring with one of the greatest fighters of all time and I’m definitely going to take advantage of it.”

Mayweather held an unbeaten record of 50-0 in his professional career and will hope to make light work of Chalmers when they square off on his return to the ring.
