Marcus Thuram has stated that he is not interested in winning the Capocannoniere after netting a hat-trick in Inter Milan’s 3-2 Serie A win over Torino on Saturday evening, Afrosport reports.
The French forward, who is the son of former international Lilian Thuram, scored his first hat-trick in Nerazzurri colours and second of his career after scoring his first in a German Cup tie against Oberachern in July 2022 while playing for Borussia Monchengladbach.
Thuram is tied on seven goals as Serie A top scorer with Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui. It has led to talks of him being in contention to win the Capocannoniere award but the 27-year-old’s focus is to help the team get results.
“I am not interested in this, the most important thing is that Inter get three points,” he said per Football Italia.
“I hadn’t scored for two or three games, the important thing is that the team wins, but if I score then I’m even happier.
“Every game in Serie A is difficult, we have a big squad with three or four new arrivals who have come to help us and we hope to do well.”
