Ademola Lookman scored and assisted one last time for Atalanta in the 2023-24 Italian Serie A on Sunday but it ended in a 3-2 defeat at home to Fiorentina.
The Nigerian forward has continued to remain in the conversation among fans since netting a hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen a fortnight ago.
Atalanta however fell behind in Sunday’s rescheduled Serie A game when Andrea Belotti scored in the sixth minute.
Lookman was able to level six minutes later by brilliantly chipping the ball over Fiorentina goalkeeper Tommaso Martinelli after being set up by Charles De Ketelaere.
It took the Nigerian to 11 goals in the Serie A, or which 10 were on home soil, the most by any player in the season, while he registered 17 goals in all competitions.
10 – Ademola #Lookman is the only player able to score at least 10 goals in home matches in Serie A in 2023/24 (10 goals for him at the Gewiss Stadium). Praise.#AtalantaFiorentina pic.twitter.com/M8ToxNwifB

Fiorentina wasted no time in regaining the lead at Gewiss Stadium in the 19th minute courtesy of Nicolas Gonzalez, only for Atalanta to level in the 32nd minute, Lookman this time turning provider for Giorgi Scalvini to unleash a powerful long range shot. It was Lookman’s seventh Serie A this season and ninth in all competitions.
Belotti would however go on to have the last say in the first half and in the game by completing his brace in added time which was enough to hand Fiorentina all three points.
Atalanta ended the season in fourth place, two points behind third-placed Juventus while Fiorentina finished in eighth spot to book their place in the UEFA Europa Conference League where they are back-to-back beaten finalists.
