Liverpool forward Diogo Jota will be out for a few weeks after sustaining a rib injury and is expected to make a return after the upcoming international break, Afrosport reports.
The Portuguese forward was subbed off on the half hour mark during the Red’s 2-1 triumph over Chelsea a week ago, and was replaced by Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez following a clash with Chelsea defender Tosin Adrabioyo.
With the next international window scheduled for November 11 – 19, the 27-year-old will be unavailable for Liverpool’s next four games having already missed their last two fixtures.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed the Jota’s rib injury during his pre-match conference ahead of their EFL Cup round of 16 clash against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.
The Dutch manager, who confirmed that Northern Irish full back Conor Bradley has returned to training, says Jota is out as he has not trained with the team.
“Conor [Bradley] is training with us again so maybe he could be in the squad [for Wednesday’s trip to Brighton in the EFL Cup],” Slot said.
“Jota not, Alisson not, Harvey Elliot not and Federico [Chiesa] not.”
