Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has announced the return of defenders Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe after long-term injuries, Afrosport reports.
Hernandez underwent surgery in May after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during the first leg of PSG’s Champions League semi-final clash against Borussia Dortmund, while Kimpembe has been on the sidelines for almost two years following an Achilles tendon injury sustained on 26 February 2023.
”These are players who are returning. Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe have readjusted to the team,” Enrique said in his pre-match conference on Thursday.
”They need rhythm, they lack the process of taking the time to train to be able to help the team. The injuries are a thing of the past and it is good news that they are back in the group.”
PSG, who undefeated in Ligue 1 this season, having amassed 33 points after 10 wins and three draws, sit atop the standings.
The French champions will head to the Stade Abbe-Deschamps to take on Auxerre in a matchday 14 fixture slated for Friday.
