Leon Bailey joins AS Roma on loan from Aston Villa

Leon Bailey has joined Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma from Premier League side Aston Villa for the rest of the 2025-26 season with the option to buy, Afrosport reports.

The 28-year-old Jamaican joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and has played a total of 144 times in all competitions for the Midlands side, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists.

The 2023-24 campaign was his most productive, scoring 14 goals and providing as many assists in 52 games as the Villains qualified for the UEFA Champions League by finishing fourth and also reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

According to reports, Bailey can be purchased for €22 million at the end of the loan deal.

“AS Roma are delighted to announce the signing of Leon Bailey from Aston Villa,” read a club statement.

“The winger joins the club on loan with an option to buy.

“Bailey has chosen to wear the number 31 shirt. Welcome to Roma, Leon!”


Bailey will play under new Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini, who was previously in charge of Atalanta.

The Italian capital outfit will be participating in the Europa League and will begin their Serie A campaign against Bologna on Saturday.
