Arsenal sweat on Havertz after fresh knee injury setback

Arsenal confirm season-ending surgery for injured Kai Havertz

Arsenal will be without forward Kai Havertz for an extended period with a knee injury, Afrosport reports.

The 26-year-old was absent from Arsenal’s open training session at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

The Germany international is still being assessed to determine the extent of the knee injury, with the length of his absence undecided.

Havertz recently returned from a long-term hamstring injury, which sidelined him for about three months from February to May.

He played the final 30 minutes of their season opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, coming on for Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Reports indicate that the Gunners are already exploring options in the transfer market as they prepare for Havertz’s looming absence.

Arsenal host Leeds United at the Emirates this weekend in the Premier League before heading to Merseyside to face Liverpool on Sunday, 31 August.
