Late Tammy Abraham strike helps AC Milan clinch Supercoppa Italiana title

Tammy Abraham scored the winner deep in added time as AC Milan came from two goals down to defeat city rivals Inter Milan 3-2 to lift the Supercoppa Italiana title in Riyadh on Monday night, Afrosport reports.

Inter had gone 2-0 up via Lautaro Martinez and Mehdi Taremi towards the end of the first half and start of the second half respectively.

It seemed like the Nerazzurri were on course for a fourth straight Supercoppa Italiana crown but Milan fought their way back starting with Theo Hernandez in the 57th minute before the Frenchman turned provider for former Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic to make it 2-2.

The game seemed poised to be decided on penalties but substitute Abraham, who came on for Yunus Musah, popped up with the winner in the third of five additional minutes via a tap in from a Rafael Leao pass.

Speaking after the match, Tammy Abraham said: “I am very happy for my team, for the fans and this is for all of you.

“We played with confidence, with courage, hunger, so when we do that, we are a strong side. We are very happy.”

Abraham, who won the Man of the Match award, is currently on loan from AS Roma and has six goals and four assists in 21 competitive appearances for the Rossoneri.

It is the first piece of silverware for manager Sergio Conceicao who recently took over from Paulo Fonseca. It is also Milan’s first Supercoppa Italiana title in nine years.
