Lagos Women Run: Routes confirmed as organisers announce temporary road closure

Organisers of the annual Lagos Women Run have announced the route for this year’s race that will take place on Saturday, November 11 in Lagos State.

The 10km race is scheduled to start by 6am at the Lagos City Mall and it will end at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.

The women-centred race is in its seventh edition with a prize money of 1.5 million naira at stake for the overall winner while the top 20 participants will be taking home varying cash prizes.

 Start point: Lagos City mall > JK Randle Avenue >Water Board > Old NITEL Building > Outer Marina road (front of State House) > Army Officers’ Mess > Independence Bridge > Bonny Camp Bridge > Ahmadu Bello Way > Eko Atlantic (old Bar-Beach) > Akin Adesola St > Five Cowries Bridge (Falomo Bridge) > Falomo Roundabout > Awolowo Road> Onikan Roundabout >  Mobolaji Johnson Arena(old Onikan Stadium) as the finish point.

In a traffic advisory to the public that was made available to the press on Friday, the organisers of the Lagos Women Run confirmed that some routes will be temporarily closed to traffic before and during the race.

They include:

1. Outer Marina road and traffic diverted to Odunlami Street, Lagos Island.

2. Inner Marina road inwards NITEL Building, and traffic diverted Brooks Street.

3. Catholic Mission st by Water Board and traffic diverted to Hawley Street or Okesuna Street, or Moloney Street.

4. Onikan underpass by officers mess.

5. The adjoining Streets along Ahmadu Bello Way, ( including Adeola Odeku Junction by Ahmadu Bello way).

6. The adjoining streets along Akin Adesola St.

7. Falomo ramp bridge from Victoria Island.

8. The exit road from MTN building Falomo.

9. Bourdilon Rd by Giwa barracks.

10. Entry to Falomo roundabout from Alfred Rewane by Church Of The Assumption.

11. The adjoining Streets along Awolowo Road.

12. Onikan roundabout by King George V Road.

Meanwhile, road users have been advised to follow alternative routes to their destinations as directed below to avoid any inconveniences.

1. From Apongbon bridge>>>Odunlami Street>>>Campos>>> Igbosere Street>>> Sandgrouse rd>>> Sura and continue their journey.

2. From Victoria Island>>>Ozumba Mbadiwe>>>Bonny Camp>>Onikan underpass>>>Third Mainland bridge to continue their journey.
