Joy Abiye, an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has emerged winner of the 2023 edition of the Lagos Women Run at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan on Saturday.
Abiye, a native of Ondo State, crossed the finish line of the 10km race first in a time of 33 minutes, 41 seconds to win the grand prize of 1.5 million naira.
Meanwhile, the first Nigerian woman to cross the finish line at this year’s Access Bank Lagos Marathon, Deborah Pam of Plateau State came second while Patience Dalyop also from Plateau came third.
Elizabeth Nugu and Yohanna complete the top 5 ranking and they went home with varying cash prizes.
About 8000 women participated in the eighth edition of the Lagos Women Run that started at the Tafawa Balewa Square and it spanned the length and breadth of Lagos Island before concluding in Onikan.
