Kroos signs one-year contract extension with Real Madrid

Toni Kroos has extended his contract with Real Madrid by a further year.

The 33-year-old German midfielder’s contract was expected to run out this summer but will now remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 30, 2024.

Kroos moved to the Spanish capital in 2014 after winning the FIFA World Cup in Brazil and has made 417 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 27 goals and providing 89 assists. He has won 20 titles, including four UEFA Champions League and three La Liga medals.

Veteran Croatian midfielder Luka Modric is also expected to sign a one-year contract extension with the Spanish giants with the hope of improving from the 2022-23 season where they finished 10 points behind champions Barcelona in La Liga and crashed out of the Champions League semi-finals to Manchester City.

Joining Modric and Kroos in midfield is Jude Bellingham who moved from Borussia Dortmund in a six-year deal worth more than £115 million.
