Atalanta boss Ivan Juric is looking to get Ademola Lookman back in shape after he returned to first team action in Sunday’s 3-0 Serie A win at Torino, Afrosport reports.
The Super Eagles has been away from the first team since the start of the summer when he handed in a transfer request but Atalanta rejected two bids from Inter Milan.
Lookman remained isolated as the transfer window closed and question marks were raised on his future.
Juric previously said he would not beg the reigning African Player of the Year to return to the team while captain Marten De Roon said he was welcome back at any time.
Following La Dea’s heavy 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Lookman returned to training and was included in Sunday’s squad for the Torino game, coming on in the 87th minute for Ghana forward Kamaldeen Sulemana, who both scored and assisted.
Reacting to the Nigerian’s return, Juric said: “He spoke to me and the team on Monday, he was surrounded by people who had given him some bad advice.
“He has a great winning mentality and now we need to get him back in shape physically.”
