Val Adedokun has signed a new contract with Brentford that sees him tied to the club until 2026.
The Irish-Nigerian, who turned 21 on Wednesday began his career in the country of his birth as a youth player with Malahide United, before going on to join Dundalk in 2017.
He joined Brentford in the summer of 2021 and has been an integral part of the Bees’ reserve team as captain and played a pivotal roll towards their triumph in the Premier League Cup last season.
“Val has been a fantastic defender for the B team during my time here. We have seen him grow and develop season after season and, this particular campaign, we have given him the captaincy and he has carried that so well,” Brentford B coach Neil MacFarlane said of Adedokun on the club website.
“He is a quiet leader but has great standards in his performance levels which have been extremely high. He has been able to contribute at the other end of the pitch too, with big goals and assists to add to his defensive qualities.
“He deserves his new contract and I’m delighted for him, and we want to see him keep improving and progressing with us.”

Adedokun is yet to feature for the Brentford senior team but could be an option as first choice left-back Rico Henry remains sidelined for the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
