Morocco forward Ilias Chair has had his prison sentence reduced to 160 hours of community service in Belgium and a fine of €1600.
Chair, in February, was convicted of assaulting a truck driver with a rock that broke his skull and he was consequently sentenced to 12 months in prison with a further 12 months suspended by a Belgian court.
Following a successful appeal, the 26-year-old will now continue his career at Queens Park Rangers in the 2024-25.
He has been on the books of QPR since 2017 and he played 44 matches across all competitions last season.
Chair joined QPR for their pre-season trip to the Spanish city of Girona a week ago and he is in line to feature for Marti Cifuentes’ men when they host Tottenham Hotspur for a pre-season friendly match at Loftus Road on Saturday, July 21.
Chair was born to a Moroccan father and a Polish mother in Belgium where he started his football career before moving to England.
After playing across youth levels for Morocco, he made his debut appearance for the Atlas Lions in 2021 and he has 12 caps and a goal to his name.
