Ikorodu City FC and Beyond Limits Football Academy have secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the very first time after their final day wins in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight playoffs in Enugu on Wednesday.
Needing a win to gain promotion to the country’s elite football division, Ikorodu City defeated Madiba FC 2-0 courtesy a brace from Toheeb Ajeyigbe at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium.
A draw would have been enough for Ikenne-based Beyond Limits, but they recorded a 1-0 victory through Kparobo Arierhi’s 27th minute goal at the expense of Inter Lagos FC, to also secure promotion.
Beyond Limits finished top of the Southern Conference playoffs with seven points, while Ikorodu City amassed five points to take second spot.

In the Northern Conference, Nasarawa United and El Kanemi Warriors gained promotion and will also play topflight football next season.
