How did Fulham fare in 2023-24 Premier League season

Fulham have had to adjust to life without Alexander Mitrovic this season, and although they have been underwhelming at times, they have also had interesting performances across the whole campaign.

Afrosport reviews how the season has shaped up for the London club with respect to their season overview.

Overall Review

Fulham’s season has been very unpredictable, as they have underperformed with respect to their last season’s performance.

The Cottagers are 14th in the league with 12 wins, 17 losses, and eight draws. They have garnered 44 points, eight less than they managed last campaign.

Fulham have scored 51 goals and conceded eight more in 37 matches this season, and they will definitely be present in the league next season for their third straight campaign.

Unsung Hero

Rodrigo Muniz

The Brazilian was deemed surplus to requirement last season as he was sent on loan to Middlesbrough in the Championship, where he ended with two goals in 17 matches.

Muniz returned to Fulham this season and has been the revelation in the team with nine goals and an assist in 25 matches in the Premier League, starting 18 of those games.

The 23-year-old has scored a brace twice this season for the Cottagers—in wins against Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur—and also clinched the Player of the Month award in March.

Manager

Marco Silva

Since returning to the Premier League last season, Marco Silva has helped Fulham experience constant growth.

They finished 10th in the 2022–23 season, and although they are four places worse off this season, it is understandable as they lost leading scorer Mitrovic.

Possible areas for reinforcement

Fulham got most of their goals from Muniz, but as good as he was for the team, he’s only managed nine goals this campaign.

If the team would want improvement next season, they would need to bring in a proven scorer, who has killer instinct in front of goal.

Also, with Tosin Adarabioyo leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season, they would need to bring in a new centre back to replace one of their best players.
