Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has confirmed that club captain Marc Guehi might be sold before the close of the summer transfer window, Afrosport reports.
The Abidjan-born centre-back has a year left on his contract at Selhurst Park, and Palace already rejected a reported £65 million bid from Newcastle United back in January. Premier League champions Liverpool have also shown reported interest in him.
The 25-year-old does not seem keen to renew his contract with the Eagles, who do not want to lose him on a free transfer next summer. Hence, selling him in the ongoing transfer window will be the best option.
“We’d have to do that, of course,” Parish said when asked.
“For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it’s a problem for us, unfortunately.
“Joachim [Andersen] went [to Fulham last summer] and we couldn’t afford to lose both.
“We then had another bid [for Guehi] in January, but that was a different situation.
“We’ll just have to see what happens. But, you know, it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.”

Crystal Palace were crowned Community Shield champions after beating Liverpool on penalties at Wembley on Sunday.
The South London club was however dealt a blow on Monday after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld UEFA’s decision to demote from the Europa League to the Conference League for breaching the governing body’s multi-club ownership regulations.
