Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu is the latest name in world football set to spend a lengthy period on the sidelines due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Afrosport reports.
The Ghana international has suffered an ACL tear in his left knee, Ligue 1 club Rennes confirmed on Monday.
Seidu was replaced in the 18th minute by 20-year-old Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye during Rennes’ 1-0 loss to Lille at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Sunday.

Although the Ligue 1 outfit did not suggest how long Seidu will be out for, the Black Stars defender is expected to miss the remainder of the ongoing season.
Seidu has played 11 times for Rennes this season, with the club currently 15th in the Ligue 1 standings with 11 points, one point above the relegation zone after three straight defeats.
Rennes will host 13th placed Saint Etienne next on Saturday at Roazhon Park.
