Former F1 champion Rosberg urges Hadjar to resist potential Red Bull move

Former Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg has adviced Isack Hadjar to resist any temptation to join Red Bull Racing after his impressive start to life in the sister Racing Bulls team, Afrosport reports.

The 20-year-old French rookie of Algerian heritage, has been one of the standout performers of the 2025 F1 season so far, having scored points in six out of nine races, with a best result of sixth at the Monaco Grand Prix.

It has led to speculation of Hadjar possibly being considered for a promotion to Red Bull as the Milton Keynes squad continues to struggle to find a teammate to match reigning world champion Max Verstappen, with Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, both promoted from Racing Bulls, yet to impress for the senior team.

While accepting a Red Bull drive will be difficult to refuse for Hadjar, Rosberg, who beat Lewis Hamilton to the championship title in 2016 with Mercedes, believes staying put at Racing Bulls is the better option for now.

“If I was Hadjar, if ever the team started to mention [the possibility of a promotion to Red Bull], I would literally decline, decline as hard as you possibly can,” the German said per Crash.net.

“He’s doing such a great job with Racing Bulls. He’s in a great position. Just flat decline and say, ‘No way!’.”

Hadjar will be looking to score points for the seventh time at the 10th race on the calendar in next weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
