Serhou Guirassy found the back of the net twice as Borussia Dortmund defeated Monterrey in Atlanta to book the last spot in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals, Afrosport reports.
The Guinea forward scored previously in the epic 4-3 win over South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns in the group stage, and was in on the act in the round of 16 at the Mercedes Benz Stadium after 14 minutes when he put the ball past Monterrey goalkeeper Esteban Andrada having been nicely set up Karim Adeyemi.
Adeyemi was there again to assist Guirassy 10 minutes later and struck the ball into the corner of the net. The former Stuttgart man was close to making it a hat-trick just after the half hour mark but he failed to connect with Jobe Bellingham’s cross.
Monterrey started the second half the better side and pulled one back just three minutes in after German Berterame headed from close range for his third goal in the competition.

The Mexican side pushed aggressively for the equaliser to force extra time but Dortmund survived their threats to set up a last eight meeting with Real Madrid in East Rutherford on Saturday.
