FIFA hit sanctions on Nsue and Equatorial Guinea

World governing body FIFA has fined Equatorial Guinea for fielding Emilio Nsue in two 2026 World Cup Qualifiers he was ineligible to play in last year.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee revealed that the 34-year-old was ineligible to feature the in the qualifiers against Nambia and Liberia on November 15 and 20 respectively.

The Equatorial Guinea FA have been fined 150,000 Swiss Francs as a result while Nsue has been handed a six-month game ban.

The ban will most likely be ineffective as the CF Intercity forward announced his retirement from international football after AFCON 2023 following his suspension by his country’s FA for misconduct.

The Equatorial Guinea FA have 10 days today appeal the decision.
