Danny Welbeck was on target once again against his former club Manchester United as Brighton & Hove Albion defeated them 2-1 in the FA Cup third round at Old Trafford on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The game was the second in charge for interim head coach and former United player Darren Fletcher since the dismissal of Ruben Amorim last week.
The Red Devils were behind after 12 minutes when Brajan Gruda found the back of the net for Brighton. The Seagulls remained in control and had their lead doubled in the 64th minute when former United player Welbeck was set up by Gruda
It was the 35-year-old’s eighth goal against his former employers in all competitions, making them the team he has scored the most goals against alongside West Ham United in his career.
Benjamin Sesko pulled one back for Fletcher’s side in the 85th minute while teenager Shea Lacey was sent off after collecting two yellow cards between the 87th and 89th minute.
