FA Cup: Morocco’s Amrabat prepared for Man United’s ‘do-or-die’ clash with Liverpool

Sofyan Amrabat says that Manchester United need to be prepared for their “do or die” FA Cup quarter-final clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

The Reds and Red Devils and are the two most successful teams in English football but the gulf in class between both sides on the pitch has widened over the years with Liverpool being the more dominant and successful side.

Both sides previously met in the Premier League in December at Anfield with the game ending 0-0.

United put in a very strong performance defensively on that occasion and Amrabat wants the team to repeat the same in order to win and book their place in the semi-finals.

“Like you said, it’s the do or die or the eat or get eaten,” Amrabat told the club website.

“So we have to be ready. We have to be prepared. It was like I said, the pull is strong, but they want to win and we want to win.

“So we have to be hungry. We have to. We have to fight for every metre, to give our lives, and yeah, do or die.”

Reflecting on December’s goalless draw at Anfield which Amrabat played in, he said: “It was a very nice experience. I think it’s clear that Liverpool, they are very strong. Also, this season, they have played very good football. I think our game there was very hard. It’s not easy to get the result at Anfield. But we played and it was zero-zero.

“I think it’s a very good and important point. But now we play at home against them. We have a lot of respect for them. Of course, we want to win the game. So to me, I think it is a very nice game. We are at home with a full stadium so this is a big boost for us.”

Amrabat is currently on loan from Fiorentina and has featured 22 times in all competitions for United.
