Oscar Piastri has agreed a new multi-year contract extension with McLaren that will see him with the Woking outfit for the long term, Afrosport reports.
Piastri joined McLaren in 2023 also on a multi-year contract which was extended after just 15 races at least the end of 2026.
The Australian went on to impress in his second season, winning two Grands Prix and scoring six other podium finishes as well as a sprint race win.
The 23-year-old was the only driver to complete every racing lap of the 2024 en route a career-best fourth in the Drivers’ Championship, which helped McLaren secure the constructors’ championship for the first time since 1998.
“It’s a great feeling knowing that I’m part of McLaren’s long-term vision,” Piastri said per the F1 website. “The team had the belief in me when we signed in 2022, and the journey we’ve gone on over the past two seasons to help return McLaren to the very top of the sport has been incredible.
“There are so many talented and special people working at MTC who have helped me to become a Formula 1 race winner very early in my career. Therefore, I’m very proud to be continuing to represent this legendary team for many years to come.
“I’m excited to fight for the big prizes as a McLaren driver and after last year’s fantastic achievements, it has made me even hungrier to stay at the sharp end.”

McLaren have now ensured stability at their Woking base by also offering multi-year contract extensions to Piastri’s teammate Lando Norris, CEO Zack Brown, team principal Andrea Stella as well as several senior team members.
