Lewis Hamilton topped a red-flagged opening practice session in his Mercedes at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix on Friday.
The seven-time world champion edged McLaren’s Oscar Piastri to the fastest time on soft tyres by just 0.029 seconds, with Mercedes teammate George Russell in third place.
The session was however halted in the closing stages by a red flag after Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu hit the wall and lost part of his front wing.
