F1: Hamilton finishes fourth as Verstappen wins fourth-straight Emilia-Romagna GP

Lewis Hamilton finished an impressive fourth for Ferrari as Max Verstappen won the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix for the fourth time in a row on Sunday afternoon, Afrosport reports.

Hamilton started the home race for his new team in 12th place and made his way up to fifth having started on the more durable hard tyre.

The seven-time world champion also benefited from two safety car windows to have free pit stops, allowing him to ultimately finish ahead of Alex Albon in the Williams, Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc and former Mercedes teammate George Russell.

Meanwhile, reigning world champion Verstappen overtook polesitter Oscar Piastri at the start of Red Bull’s 400th Grand Prix and was untouchable throughout.

The Dutch driver led by more than 30 seconds at some stage but after the second safety car still managed to finish 6.1 seconds ahead of Norris while current championship leader Piastri settled for third.

Verstappen remains third in the championship standings, 22 points behind Piastri and nine points behind second-placed Norris.

Completing the top 10 in Imola were the second Williams of Carlos Sainz, the Racing Bulls of Isack Hadjar and the second Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda who had a pitlane start.

The next race of the European triple header will be Monaco Grand Prix followed by the Spanish Grand Prix
