F1: Dutch Grand Prix contract extended until 2025

Formula 1 has announced the Dutch Grand Prix will be on the race calendar until 2025 after a contract extension was agreed on.

The race – which takes place at Circuit Zandvoort, in the eponymous coastal municipality in the northern Netherlands – returned to the F1 calendar in 2021 after a 36-year absence.

The race has been dominated by local hero Max Verstappen, who won the 2021 and 2022 editions ahead of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell respectively.

Verstappen’s presence has made the Dutch Grand Prix one of the highest-attended races on the F1 calendar, drawing more than 300,00 fans in 2022.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali says the energy and fan experience from the Dutch Grand Prix has raised the bar in organising races.

“The Dutch Grand Prix has quickly established itself on the calendar as a fan favourite, bringing incredible energy and a great fan experience every year,” Domenicali said on the F1 website.

“The sold-out events in the last two years have raised the bar in terms of organisation, entertainment, and sustainability, and we are delighted to extend our relationship with them. There is huge demand to host F1 races so it is testament to what the team have done to cement Zandvoort on the calendar until 2025, and we can’t wait to return next summer.”

Dutch Grand Prix Sporting Director of the race, Jan Lammers, asserted that Circuit Zandvoort is ready to host another spectacular race in 2023.

“We are looking forward to the upcoming Grands Prix. With great races in which Dutch fans can now enjoy no less than two Dutch drivers,” Lammers said.

“Of course, we will again offer an extensive and surprising entertainment program. With this we are again offering the ultimate race festival.”

The 2023 Dutch Grand Prix will hold on August 27 which kicks off the second half of the season after the mandatory summer break.

It will also be the penultimate European race before switching to the Asian leg of races.
