Europa League: Benrahma and Zaha combine as Lyon overcame Olympiacos

Solanke scores back-to-back as 10-man Tottenham defeat Qarabag in Europa League

Said Benrahma and Wilfried Zaha combined for a goal as Olympique Lyon defeated Olympiacos 2-0 in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night, Afrosport reports.

The game at Parc Olympique Lyonnais was a goalless affair in the first half but the floodgates finally opened in the 65th minute when Rayan Cherki was set up by former Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Lyon’s lead was doubled four minutes later when substitute and former Crystal Palace star Zaha found Algerian Benrahma who finished off coolly by slotting the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.

It was Benrahma’s first goal of the season while it was Zaha’s first appearance and goal involvement since joining Lyon on loan from Galatasaray in the summer.

Olympiacos thought they had pulled one back through Duje Caleta-Car but it was ruled out by VAR for offside.

Lyon’s next assignment is a Ligue 1 trip to Toulouse on Sunday.
