Errol Musk, the father of the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has claimed his son is interested in buying current Premier League leaders Liverpool, Afrosport reports.
The Reds havd been under the control of Fenway Sports Group (FSG) since 2010 and have looked for outside investment in the past but not a complete sale.
According to Sky Sports, FSG are not keen to sell Liverpool at the moment and no concrete offer has been made by South African-born Elon Musk who is worth $415.8 billion as per Forbes.
When asked on Times Radio if his son would like to purchase the 19-time English champions, Errol said: “Oh, yes. But that doesn’t mean he’s buying it.
“He would like to yes, obviously. Anybody would want to – so would I.”
A possible reason for Elon’s rumoured interest in buying Liverpool is because of the Musk family ties to the city with Errol explaining: “His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool, and we were fortunate to know quite a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family.
“So, we are attached to Liverpool, you know.”
Liverpool are worth $5.37 billion per Forbes, making them the fourth most valuable football club in the world behind Real Madrid ($6.6 billion), Manchester United ($6.5 billion) and Barcelona ($5.6 billion).
