It was seventh heaven at Old Trafford on Tuesday night as Manchester United completed a 7-0 rout of League One side Barnsley in the third round of the English Football League (EFL) Cup.
The Red Devils, who got back to winning ways against Southampton last weekend, made light work of the Tykes, who are two divisions below them.
England international Marcus Rashford still beaming with confidence having opened his season account at the weekend, put Erik ten Hag’s men in front with a sublime effort in the 16th minute.

One soon became two 19 minutes later, when Brazilian winger Antony converted a penalty he won, for his first goal of the season. Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho ensured it was three to United before the halftime break with a toe poking effort that left goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina stranded.
The second half started in quick fashion for the hosts as Garnacho double his tally for the game with United’s fourth goal just four minutes after the restart. The 20-year-old once again turned provider for Rashford, who made it five in he 58th minute.
Two quick goals from veteran Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen in the 81st and 85th minutes helped United wrap up the convincing win in front of their home fans and progress into the last 16 of the EFL Cup.
