The League Cup fourth-round draw has thrown up some eye-catching fixtures, with holders Newcastle United handed a tough test against Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park.
Liverpool have been paired with FA Cup winners Crystal Palace in a rematch of this season’s Community Shield. Oliver Glasner’s men got the better of the Reds on penalties back in August, and the Premier League champions will be eager to even the score.
Arsenal, without a League Cup triumph since 1993, continue their pursuit of long-awaited silverware with a challenging fixture against Brighton. Mikel Arteta’s men, who have endured a five-year drought, are up against the Seagulls, who pose a real threat after sweeping past Barnsley in the last round.
Elsewhere, League Two side Grimsby Town have kept their cup fairytale alive. Having already stunned Manchester United and Sheffield Wednesday, the Mariners have been rewarded with another home tie, this time against another Premier League opposition in Brentford.
There will also be a historic clash in Wales, as three Welsh clubs have reached this stage of the competition for the first time. Wrexham and Cardiff City will go head-to-head at the Racecourse Ground in their first meeting since 2002, while Swansea City host Manchester City.
In the other ties, Wolves will look to build on their recent upturn in form when they host Chelsea, while League One side Wycombe Wanderers have been drawn against Fulham.
