Extreme Fighting Championship returns on Thursday with the EFC 102 event which has 10 fights scheduled at the EFC Performance Institute in the South African city of Johannesburg.
The main event for the night will see Democratic Republic of Congo fighter Ziko Makengele defend his welterweight title against South Africa’s Mark Hulme.
Hulme is returning to competitive action for the first time since 2021 after his bout against Vitaly Slipenko was cancelled in February 2022.
He has a record of eight wins and three losses in the EFC while defending champion Makengele who is nicknamed ‘the Gorilla’ is unbeaten in his four fights.
Nigeria’s Juliet Ukah will also be in action against South Africa’s Crystal van Wyk, Vandam Mbuyi and Ivan Strydom will battle in the match-up while Shannon Van Tonder has scores to settle against Ashley Calvert.
Other fights include Peace Nguphane against Given Majuba, DR Congo star David Mambo against Congo’s Emmanuel Sita.
Angola’s Osvaldo Benedito is set for his first EFC fight against South Africa’s Robert Swanepoel who has just a win in his last seven fights while DR Congo’s Christian Mulamba and South Africa’s Luke Hendrikz will compete for their first win in the competition, same as the pairing between Vincent Nakana and Gracia Ngoyi.
