Mali international Abdoulaye Doucoure has penned a new contract at Everton that will keep him in the Premier League until June 2025.
The new deal comes as a reward for the 30-year-old for his inspiring performances in Sean Dyche’s team athat has put the club 15th in the league table.
Doucoure played a massive part in helping Everton escape relegation to the Championship last season with his attacking contributions and his role in the middle of the park.
This season, the lanky midfielder has scored three goals with two assists in 10 Premier League matches for Everton.
He agreed that the decision to continue his career on Merseyside was an easy one for him as a result of the reception he is enjoying from the fans.
“I love Everton and I’m very happy to extend my stay here and move forward with the club. The decision was very easy to make,” Doucoure told the club website.
“I love all the people around the club and all the fans who have shown me so much love over the last two months. I wanted to stay here and continue to enjoy my time with Everton. It means a lot to me to stay here. I have always fought for this club and I have always loved it.
“I always wanted to stay at Everton. The support from the fans has been incredible and I can’t thank them enough for all the support they’ve given me. I want to keep playing, I want to keep learning and I want to keep fighting for the badge and for the club.
Doucoure moved to Goodison Park from Watford in 2020 and is in contention to play for Mali at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.
