Nigeria international Kevin Akpoguma has penned a new two-year contract with Bundesliga club, Hoffenheim that will keep him at the club until June 2026.
The 28-year-old’s former deal was set to expire in June 2024 before the club initiated talks for a new offer.
Akpoguma moved to Hoffenheim in 2013 and has been a regular fixture in the team, making 28 Bundesliga appearances last season.

Hoffenheim director Alexander Rosen told the club website: “Kevin is a player who oozes pure passion for TSG with every fibre of his body.
“He lives by the values that we want to stand for on and off the pitch and sets an example and leads the way with his passionate commitment, his enormous speed and his uncompromising style of play.
“Akpoguma has also repeatedly shown character in demanding situations, carried his team-mates along with him with his emotional manner and, on a sporting level, delivered probably his most consistent performances in a TSG shirt last season.”
Akpoguma has played 122 matches in the Bundesliga since he made his debut in 2017-18 and he has also scored three goals during the period.
The former Germany U20 captain plays switched his international allegiance to Nigeria in 2020 and made his international debut in the Super Eagles’ 1-0 friendly defeat to Algeria in October 2020.
Akpoguma has eight caps for Nigeria and he recently played in the country’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone that ended 3-2.
