Newcastle United have signed defender Malick Thiaw in a €40 million deal from AC Milan, Afrosport reports.
Newcastle will pay an initial fee of €30m plus €5m in performance-related add-ons and has put pen to paper on a four-deal until 2029.
The 24-year-old will wear the number 12 shirt at St. James Park and becomes the third signing in a frustrated summer for the Magpies, joining Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on loan from Southampton.
“I’m really excited to join this massive club,” The Germany international said. “I can’t wait to start training and to get to know my new teammates and all the staff.
“The gaffer showed me his vision and what he wants to do with me as a player and the club itself, which is really exciting.
“I think Newcastle speaks for itself. It’s a great club, a big club with passionate fans who I can’t wait to see at St. James’ Park.”

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe added: “We’re really pleased to have Malick on board. He’s a player I’ve admired for a long time and somebody who will add real quality to our defensive options.
“Malick is still young but brings valuable experience of Champions League football, as well as playing in the Bundesliga and Serie A, which is a major positive for us as we return to Europe this season.”
Thiaw joined Milan from Schalke in August 2022 and made 85 appearances for the Rossoneri, including featuring in 31 matches in all competitions last season.
Born to a Senegalese father, he made his international debut for Germany in June 2023 and has since earned three caps.
Thiaw is in line to make his Newcastle debut when they host Aston Villa in Saturday’s early kick off.
