Done Deal: Memphis Depay joins Brazilian club Corinthians until 2026

Dutch forward Memphis Depay has signed a two-year contract with Brazilian side Corinthians until December 2026, the club announced late on Monday.

The 30-year-old Netherlands international joins Timao after departing La Liga club Atletico Madrid as a free agent in July.

A club statement from Corinthians read: “On Monday (09), Sport Club Corinthians Paulista agreed to sign Dutch striker Memphis Depay. At 30 years old, the athlete arrives at Timão with a contract valid until December 31, 2026.”

Depay joined Atletico from Barcelona in January 2023, and the former PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United forward played 40 times for the Madrid club, scoring 13 goals and providing two assists.

He forward began his professional career at PSV in 2011, having progressed through their youth system. He joined United four years later, before spells at Lyon and Barcelona.

Depay made his Netherlands debut in 2013 and has scored 46 goals in 98 appearances, only four goals behind all-time leading scorer Robin Van Persie. He was also named to the Dutch squad to the Euro 2024 tournament this summer.
