Ivory Coast international defender Eric Bailly has re-signed with Villarreal as a free agent, eight years after departing the Spanish outfit.
The 29-year-old, who was recently left out of the Elephants squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, has signed an 18-month contract with the Yellow Submarines following his release from Turkish side Besiktas.

Bailly spent just a season at the Estadio de la Ceramica before securing a move to Premier League giants Manchester United in the summer of 2016.
The Ivorian departs Besiktas just three months after leaving Old Trafford, where he spent about seven seasons. He played only eight games for the Black Eagles and was one of the five players exiled from their first team squad earlier this month, alongside Cameroon forward Vincent Aboubakar.
The Yellow Submarine are currently 13th in La Liga with 19 points after 18 games, and they have reached the Europa League knockout stage.
