Done Deal: Cameroon defender Tchatchoua joins Wolves from Verona for £10m

Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of Cameroon defender Jackson Tchatchoua in a £10.8 million deal from Serie A side Hellas Verona, Afrosport reports.

The 23-year-old, who can play as a right-back or wing-back, has signed a five-year contract until 2030 with Wolves.

He becomes the fifth signing through the door at the Molineux this summer. The West Midland club secured Jorgen Strand Larsen on a permanent deal after his loan spell, and signed Fer Lopez, Jhon Arias and David Moller Wolfe.

“I feel good. I feel happy to be here and I’m excited. I spoke a little bit with the coach, but I’ll speak more,” Tchatchoua said. “The Premier League is one of my dreams and it’s one step that I want to do in my life, and also the history of the club, the stadium, the fans, this convinced me.”

“I can play wing-back, I can play full-back. When the space is free, I really like it, and I can play both [positions]. I will play the position of the coach puts me on the pitch, for the team and for the coach.”

Tchatchoua was named the faster player in Serie A last season, reaching an average top speed of 34.88km/h. Wolves, meanwhile, claimed the defender produced a top speed of 36.3kmph during the campaign.

He began his career at Charleroi before spending a season on loan at Verona, with the deal becoming permanent in 2024. He made 64 appearances for the Italian club, scoring two goals and providing three assists in 37 games last campaign.

Born in Belgium, he switched his allegiance to Cameroon and made his international debut in a World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde in June 2024. He has since earned 10 caps for the indomitable Lions.

Tchatchoua is in line to make his debut on Saturday when Wolves head to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth. They lost their season opener 4-0 to Manchester City and will be looking to bounce back immediately.
