Cameroon forward Clinton Njie has signed a two-year deal with Romanian outfit Rapid București, ending his stint with Turkish side Sivasspor.
The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner made the switch to the Romanian top tier after spending the last two years in the Turkish Super Lig with Sivasspor where he scored 4 goals in 57 appearances.
The Cameroon international will don the number nine jersey during his time at the Rapid-Giulești Stadium.
Njie started his professional career with the Lyon B team in 2011, where he scored 15 goals in 60 appearances, earning him a call-up to the senior team, where he scored seven times in 37 matches.
He soon moved to the Premier League, where he joined North London club Tottenham Hotspur in a deal that saw Spurs pay Lyon a reported fee of €12 million for his services in the summer of 2015.
An unfortunate medial cruciate ligament (MCL) injury suffered in December 2015 in a Europa League group stage match hampered his start to life in North London as he failed to rediscover his form. Upon recovery, he made only eught appearances all season without registering a goal.
Despite signing a five-year contract with Spurs, Njie returned to Ligue 1 a year later, joining Marseille on a season-long loan deal. It was at the Stade Velodrome that he found a home, scoring 4 goals from 22 appearances, which earned him a permanent deal at the end of the season.
The 2014 CAF Most Promising Talent of the Year nominee has also played for the Russian Premier League club Dynamo Moscow and has scored 10 goals from 36 international appearances with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
