Diamond League: Omanyala, Machmour, Tebogo & Simbine confirmed for men’s 100m in Rabat

The 2023 Rabat Diamond League is set to see four African superstars alongside current World champion, Fred Kerley and Olympic champion, Lamont Marcell Jacobs will face off in the men’s 100m event at the Diamond League meeting in Rabat.

The men’s 100m startlist include Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala from Kenya, former African champion – Akani Simbine of South Africa, Morocco’s Machmour Chakir and Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo.

Jamaica’s Yohan Blake, Canada’s Andre de Grasse and US duo of Kerley and Traybon Bromell complete the line-up.

South Africa’s Simbie is ranked fourth in the world rankings after setting an African record of 9.84seconds in July 2021 but it was shattered by Kenya’s Omanyala who ran 9.77seconds two months later. Omanyala is fifth in the world ranking.

The meeting mark Jacobs’ return to the track for the first time since he won gold at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and he has not raced in any Diamond League meeting since 2021 in Monaco.

The race will take place at the Mohammed VI Stadium in the Moroccan city of Rabat on the 28th of May.
