Dessers ends Rangers goal drought in victory over Aberdeen

Isak joins elite forward list as Newcastle record sixth straight Premier League win

Cyriel Dessers scored his first goal in 11 games after coming off the bench in Rangers’ 3-0 Scottish Premiership win over Aberdeen on Wednesday night, Afrosport reports.

The Nigerian forward lost his place in Gers starting XI to summer signing and Moroccan Hamza Igamane who got things off at Ibrox in 13th minute for his seventh league goal in his last six matches.

The scoreline remained 1-0 until the 93rd minute when Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun rose highest to head in Clinton Nsiala’s cross for his first league goal of the season.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion player would go on to make his first assist of the season as well by threading a long ball to Dessers four minutes later which the 30-year-old finished off calmly for his seventh top flight goal this term.

The result gave Rangers back-to-back Premiership wins after winning only two in their previous six games.

Paul Clement’s side remain in second place, 10 points clear of third-placed Dundee United and 13 points behind leaders and fierce rivals Celtic.
