Former Premier League referee David Coote has pleaded guilty to making an indecent image of a child at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
The 43-year-old was given the charge back in August following an investigation by Nottinghamshire police over allegation of a category A video which relates to the downloading, sharing and saving material, and is considered the most serious type of crime of that category.
Coote had previously pleaded not guilty at a hearing last month but changed his plea to guilty at the latest hearing on Tuesday.
“You have pleaded guilty to a serious matter. Whether this means custody or not will be decided when all the information is before the court, which is why I have ordered a pre-sentencing report,” Judge Nirmal Shant KC said at the court hearing.
Coote has been granted conditional bail and will next appear at court on December 11 for sentencing.
He was banned by the Football Association after making discriminatory remarks about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
He was also suspended by European football governing body UEFA after video surfaced of him sniffing a white substance during the Euro 2024 championship in Germany.
