Club by Club: 40 players set to leave Premier League for AFCON 2023

A total of 40 Premier League players are set to depart England to participate in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with their respective countries.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday released the provisional squad lists submitted by coaches of all participating 24 teams.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by the Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024 which would leave Premier League teams without their key players as they embark to defend their national team colours.

Only Manchester City and Newcastle United did not produce a player in the AFCON 2023 provisional squad while  Nottingham Forest have the most representation with five players picked from the Forest Ground.

Below is the representation of each Premier League team.

Arsenal: Mohamed Elneny (Egypt), Thomas Partey (Ghana).

Aston Villa: Bertrand Traore (Burkina Faso).

Bournemouth: Dango Ouattara (Burkina Faso), Antoine Semenyo (Ghana),

Brentford: Yoane Wissa (DR Congo), Hamed Traore (Ivory Coast), Frank Onyeka (Nigeria),

Brighton & Hove Albion: Simon Adingra (Ivory Coast), Tariq Lamptey (Ghana), Samy Chouchane (Tunisia).

Burnley: Lyles Foster (South Africa).

Chelsea: Nicolas Jackson (Senegal),

Crystal Palace: Jordan Ayew (Ghana),

Everton: Idrissa Gueye (Senegal), Abdoulaye Doucoure (Mali),

Fulham: Calvin Bassey (Nigeria), Alex Iwobi (Nigeria), Fode Ballo  (Senegal),

Liverpool: Mohamed Salah (Egypt),

Luton Town: Issa Kabore (Burkina Faso),

Manchester City: –

Manchester United: Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast), Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco), Hannibal Mejbri (Tunisia).

Newcastle United: –

Nottingham Forest: Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast), Ibrahim Sangare (Ivory Coast), Ola Aina (Nigeria), Cheikhou Kouyate (Senegal), Moussa Niakhate (Senegal).

Sheffield United: Yasser Larouci (Algeria), Benie Adama Traore (Ivory Coast), Anis Ben Slimane (Tunisia)
