Olympic bronze medallist Cindy Ngamba has pulled out from her professional boxing debut due to a failed pre-fight medical, Afrosport reports.
Ngamba made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics, becoming the first member of the Refugee Olympic Team to win a medal.
The Cameroonian was scheduled to make her professional bow against European welterweight champion Kirstie Bavington in an eight-round non-title bout at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Friday.
The super welterweight bout was on the undercard of the all-British welterweight unification fight between Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price.
“Cindy Ngamba will not be making her professional debut on Friday night after a pre-fight medical examination revealed an issue requiring further investigation,” promoters Boxxer said in a statement.
“The health and safety of fighters remains the highest priority, and Cindy will undergo further tests in the coming days.”
