Two-time Women’s National Basketball Association, WNBA All-Star, Chiney Ogwumike, led a team of basketball coaches to Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, for a Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA elite camp for boys and girls between the ages 15 to 17.

The basketball clinic, the first of its kind, coincides with the US. President’s Advisory Council on Africa Diaspora Engagement’s first visit to Nigeria, and it was led by Council Member, Chiney Ogwumike.

The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Elite camp provided the 40 players who participated the opportunity to enhance their basketball talents, gain exposure to advanced coaching approaches, and to develop a better understanding of the fundamentals of the game in a disciplined and high quality training environment.

The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Elite camp also offered the basketball players the avenue to further enhance their shooting, ball handling and positioning skills and the chance to be listed as participants of the Junior NBA/Junior WNBA Elite camp and the elite Basketball Without Borders, BWB.

Meanwhile, the Vice-President of NBA Africa and Country Head of NBA Nigeria, Gbemisola Abudu assured that the NBA will continue to provide the platform for budding athletes in Nigeria to develop their talents.

Abudu also stated that the NBA plans to organize more Jr. NBA/Jr.WNBA Elite camps across the country as she called on stakeholders and prospective partners to be a part of the events.
