Cazorla extends stay with Real Oviedo

Santi Cazorla has extended his stay with boyhood club, Real Oviedo for the 2024-25 season.

The Spanish club announced the development on their X handle on Thursday.

He joined the Spanish second division team last season, with the intention of helping them into La Liga.

Real Oviedo however lost in the playoffs to Espanyol and the 39-year-old has now decided to attempt the promotion chase at the second time of asking.


The former Arsenal midfielder made 26 appearances across all competitions for Oviedo last season.

While playing for Arsenal, Cazorla won the FA Cup two times, and also won the Community Shield. He also played for Villarreal, Malaga, Recreativo Huelva, Al Sadd, as well as the Spanish national team where he won the European championship in 2008 and 2012.
