Rivers United recorded their first defeat in the ongoing 2023-24 CAF Confederation Cup group stage, losing 2-1 away to Ghanaian side Dreams FC on Sunday.
The Pride of Rivers opened their Group C campaign with a commanding 3-0 home win against Academica do Lobito last week but had none of that in Kumasi as Eric Boateng fed the ball for John Antwi to give Dreams FC the lead in the 35th minute.
Agyenim Boateng Mensah was the next player to assist, finding Abdul Aziz Issah for the second goal of the game in the 74th minute.
The game looked beyond the reach of Rivers at this point but they still managed to net a consolation goal courtesy of Alex Oyowah in added time.
